Serengeti Balloon Safari: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Sunrise Flight Above the Savannah

Drifting effortlessly on dawn thermal winds as the African sun rises above the horizon is one of the most majestic experiences imaginable. A Serengeti hot air balloon safari provides an awe-inspiring aerial perspective of the world’s most celebrated wildlife amphitheater.

The Dawn Launch

Your journey begins before dawn with a 5:00 AM pickup from your luxury tented camp. Arriving at the launch site, you watch the massive balloon envelope inflate with roaring gas burners against the twilight sky. By 6:15 AM, the basket gently lifts into the cool morning air.

Silent Tree-Top Gliding

Unlike fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters, hot air balloons glide in peaceful silence punctuated only by intermittent burner bursts. You soar 1,000 feet for sweeping panoramic views of the endless savannah, then descend to tree-canopy level to observe giraffes nibbling acacia shoots and lion prides waking from nocturnal hunts.

Aerial Views of the Great Migration

Depending on the season, floating above hundreds of thousands of migrating wildebeest and zebras stretching to the horizon is breathtaking. From the sky, you can trace the ancient wildlife trails carved into the Serengeti plains over millennia.

Traditional Out of Africa Bush Breakfast

Upon landing, a traditional champagne celebration welcomes you. Guests are escorted to a beautifully laid linen-covered table beneath a flat-topped acacia tree, where white-gloved waiters serve a gourmet English breakfast with eggs cooked to order, fresh tropical fruits, and sparkling wine.

"Let Your Imagination Wander."
